Miaren's First Show Miaren was just great. Loaded nicely for
me alone, travelled well, and was wonderful for a
6 month old at his first show. He eyed
everything new (not sure about walking on pavement),
but just started out talking a little
to the other horses, and after an hour was neighing on occassion.
He relaxed and grazed in hand a little,
accepted most of the petting and never made me worry
about control or being embarrassed.
The judge said that he had very nice gaits.
A good dressage trot, and nice long walk. She said
that she feels he'll make a very nice
dressage mount. He got his first blue ribbon,
but more than that his first outing was
a good experience that makes me feel confident
about how he will behave in the future.
Practicing in-hand at home.
Hey, we're in step with each other...
Watching the camera man (or practicing
shoulder-in).
He can make his canter short enough
to do it while I'm running beside him. I explain to him that it's not what
I want, but really I think it's kind of neat.
This is what we need to work on the
most. He doesn't like to stand still for very long.
In the arena standing for the judge.
Running in arena sand is no fun.
He's 13.2 right now. It looks like
there's a good chance he'll get over 16 hh.
