here to see what happens when good grinders go bad...)
--July 2002--
Basically finished with the backsplash. The plywood is waiting for concrete then the sink goes in. July 2002 |
Under and over cabinet lighting is in, but still missing one cabinet and it's really obvious. July 2002 |
Well, I bit the bullet and tried again. This one is much smoother than the last and we're hoping that with only a little grinding it will have a nice smooth surface. July 23, 2002 |
After grinding and sanding. The grinding brought out more of the texture look, and I like that. We still don't know if we'll stain or just seal. I'm leaning toward a blue stain. July 31, 2002 |
A new blind, suspended lights and getting ahead of myself. I don't want to texture and paint til the cabinet comes in, but we'll probably have to get started on that soon. |
I like the cool suspended lights. Hopefully the electrician will be able to get back by in the next two weeks to properly wire the stuff. |
I'm so proud of the moulding. I borrowed a router and bought some wood and bits. It came out better than I had hoped. |
I went with rope lighting for under and over. It's not as bright as we had imagined, but it warms up the silver in the kitchen. We figure we can always replace it if we really need more light. |
The rope lighting basically provides mood lighting (and points out the missing cabinet that I had to plan for). The extra island cabinets and the last 9" by the window might take a while. The cabinet maker just went on vacation... |
The handles, faucet and stove are on their way. The sink was back-ordered, so I have to find another one. I need the sink, so I know the cutout for the counter top. |
